Kindergarten & First Grade - Literature- "Do You Have a Hat?" by Eileen Spinelli
"The Shape of My Heart" by Mark Sperring
Students created self portraits with their choice of a hat - Magician, Cowboy/girl, princess, gardener, etc. They used beads, buttons, feathers to decorate their hat!
Second & Third Grade - Literature "In Linnea's Garden" by Christina Bjork
"Degas and The Little Dancer" by Laurence Anholt
Students observed and discussed the works of Monet and Degas. They cut out a ballerina shape and added a coffee filter skirt to celebrate Degas. They painted a shimmering lily pond using double load technique to celebrate Monet!
Fourth Grade - Students enjoyed learning about some of Monet's most famous works. They will create a Monet inspired sailboat monoprint.
Fifth Grade - Inspired by Monet's "Magpie" students created a beautiful watercolor birch tree tape resist.
Sixth Grade - Students put the finishing touches on their Wayne Thiebaud "cake" chalk drawings. Next they will practice painting a Monet waterscape.
Seventh Grade - Students painted a beautiful Monet-inspired Japanese bridge watercolor.
Eighth Grade - Monet and Impressionism. Students will observe, discuss and identify some of Monet's most famous works. Students will create their own Impressionist style painting using short choppy strokes with complementary colors to add harmony to their compositions.
