Students were inspired by the Illustrations in our story and used painted paper to build a bird nest. They used splatter paint technique to add the implied texture of a speckled egg!

Students created a badger with their own painted paper. They used a single-layer scraping technique to create the look of fur. They also added a colorful "sweater" with lots of different types of lines.

Inspiration - Charley Harper Raccoon
Students created the fur and bark texture by using the dry brush technique with liquid tempera paint for their painted paper. They focused on contrast so their raccoon stood out from the background. They drew their raccoon in the style of Charley Harper and added lots of stars to the background to show that raccoons are frequent nighttime visitors!

They designed their own mushroom collage giving the illusion of space with different layers. As a wonderful, final touch they added smudged chalk pastel on a straight edge to show the rays of the sun peeking in to the forest!
